The Interfax agency reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday the downing of an unmanned aerial vehicle over the western part of Syria. According to the military department, the Russian forces confirmed that the object was detected in the area of the town of Eski Barak, which is under the control of opposition groups. "To prevent possible provocation and obstruction from the positions of militants, the VKS aircraft clearly identified the coordinates of the drone," the Russian military department emphasized. As explained in the Ministry of Defense, the downed drone did not pose a threat to the security of the airspace.
