Lavrov: Russia Supports Peoples of Cuba and Venezuela

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced support for the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela, emphasizing that only they have the right to determine their own destiny. He also noted the priority of fighting neocolonial practices and developing equal international cooperation.


The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, stated that Moscow supports the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela and believes that only they have the right to determine their own destiny. "The fight against neocolonial practices of all kinds, from unilateral coercive measures to military interventions, remains our priority. We are convinced that only they can determine their own future," the high-ranking diplomat said in a video address on the occasion of Diplomat's Day in Russia, published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Lavrov emphasized that Moscow is interested in further developing honest and equal international cooperation based on mutual understanding, trust, and good neighborliness. In this context, we attach special importance to the conclusion and implementation of bilateral agreements, including our treaties on security guarantees with Belarus and on a comprehensive strategic partnership with the DPRK and Iran," the Russian Foreign Minister noted. He also stated that Moscow continues to develop multifaceted relations with countries of the 'Global Majority'. "Among them are countries such as China, India and other like-minded countries, our partners and strategic allies, mainly within the framework of the CSTO, EAEU and CIS, as well as the SCO and BRICS," Lavrov said. "The leadership of the country and Russian society highly value our work. In this context, we reaffirm our solidarity with the peoples of Venezuela and Cuba. I am confident that they will continue to work with honor for the good of the Motherland and contribute their grain of sand to achieving the large-scale foreign policy objectives set by the president," the high-ranking diplomat concluded. "Following the initiative of President [Vladimir] Putin, we are working to establish, throughout the Eurasian region, an equal and indivisible security architecture and broad practical cooperation.
