Former Russian President and Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that he can imagine «operations to kidnap other world leaders similar to the one carried out by the United States in Venezuela», mentioning German Chancellor Friedrich Merz among them. According to Medvedev, as quoted by the official Russian news agency TASS on Sunday: «The kidnapping of the new Nazi Merz could be a brilliant twist in this festival of events». He added that such a scenario is not impossible. Medvedev also noted that «there are grounds for prosecuting him in Germany, so there would be no loss, especially since German citizens are suffering for no reason». He believes that the claims of the US President Donald Trump's administration about the illegitimacy of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested during a US military operation on Saturday and transferred to New York, are not substantiated upon scrutiny. Medvedev then turned to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that his term ended long ago. Moscow has long claimed that Zelenskyy is an illegitimate president because elections were not held. However, Zelenskyy remains in office in accordance with the Ukrainian constitution, which allows for the extension of the presidential term during wartime.
