Russia announced yesterday, Thursday, that it has taken control of the city of Sievierodonetsk in eastern Ukraine, and its air defenses shot down more than 300 drones. The extent of the damage is not yet clear, but flights from all major Moscow airports have been rerouted. Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that at least 40 drones were shot down over the Moscow region, which has a population of over 22 million including the city itself. Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and currently controls about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory.
