On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian interceptors had intercepted two B-52H bombers from the U.S. Air Force over neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean. According to the ministry's statement, the aircraft acted in the area near the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Ministry reported that after the discovery of the aerial target, Russian interceptors accompanied the B-52H throughout the duration of their flight. Moreover, the ministry clarified that for the escort of foreign aircraft to the Russian Air Force, requests were not made to the airspace of other countries. In connection with this, requests for the escort of several dozen foreign aviation assets from other countries are being submitted. The statement by the Russian Ministry emphasized that all flights were carried out in accordance with international rules of airspace without violations. Forces continue to control the airspace over neutral waters of the Pacific Ocean within the framework of international agreements.
