Solar Flare of Class X Detected After Two Months

The Solar Research Lab reports the first Class X solar flare in over two and a half months, indicating a rise in solar activity with potential for more events.

Solar Flare of Class X Detected After Two Months

International astronomers focused attention on the first solar flare of high category for the month. The solar astrophysics laboratory, belonging to the Russian Academy of Sciences, reported that last week a X-class flare occurred on the Sun. This was the first similar case since December 8 of last year. "This flare resulted from a rapid build-up of solar activity that began less than a day ago," the laboratory said in an official statement. Specialists have already recorded three more medium-level flares. The geoelectric conditions on Earth remain calm, and the risk of heavy particles hitting the planet is minimal. The solar flare occurred on the western limb of the Sun, which reduces the likelihood of its effects on Earth. According to current observations, there are no signs of serious consequences.
