Russian scientists have stated that 2025 will see a record number of days with magnetic storms on Earth. According to a statement from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which was accessed by the Argentine News Agency, Earth has experienced 69 days with magnetic storms since the beginning of this year, compared to 44 days in 2024. The increase was even more pronounced in the number of days with geomagnetic disturbances, which totaled 164 in 2025, compared to 94 last year. Comparable numbers of days with magnetic storms on Earth were last recorded in 2015 with 79 days, and in 2016 with 69 days. The scientists noted that the 2016 figure will almost certainly be surpassed during the remaining week of the year, as a large coronal hole on the Sun continues to affect Earth.
Scientists Predict Record for Magnetic Storms in 2025
Russian scientists predict a record-breaking number of magnetic storm days for Earth in 2025, with 69 days already recorded this year, a significant increase over previous years.
