An explosion on Tuesday night in Moscow killed two traffic police officers and one suspect they were trying to stop, the Russian Investigative Committee said on Wednesday. The Committee clarified that «an explosive device was detonated» as police officers approached a person who was not far from their car. It added that «two police officers died from their injuries», noting that the person who was near them also died in the explosion. The Russian Committee announced the opening of an investigation into «an attempt to kill» law enforcement officers and «smuggling of explosives». The explosion occurred in the Yatsevsky district in southern Moscow, near the site where the suspect was killed. Earlier, the Investigative Committee had reported in a statement that two police officers were injured in an «incident».
