Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday night he could cede his frozen assets in the United States, valued at $1 billion, to rebuild Ukraine after a peace agreement or for Palestine. 'The remaining funds from our frozen assets in the US could be used to rebuild territories damaged during combat after a peace treaty is signed between Russia and Ukraine. We are discussing this possibility with representatives of the US administration,' Putin stated at a meeting with the Security Council. The head of state proposed that the funds could be sent to the Peace Council, an initiative of US President Donald Trump, aimed at ensuring peace in Palestine, to which Putin, among other international leaders, was invited. 'Even before deciding on our participation in the Peace Council and its work, given Russia's special relationship with the Palestinian people, I think we could send $1 billion from Russian assets frozen during the previous US administration to the Peace Council,' the head of state declared. Putin thanked for this week's invitation from Trump to join the body and instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to study the proposal and 'consult with its strategic partners.' 'And only then will we be able to respond to the invitation extended to us,' he noted. The Russian leader also plans to discuss the Peace Council on Thursday with Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, who is traveling to Moscow accompanied by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the US president. 'They are coming to Moscow to continue the dialogue on the agreement in Ukraine,' Putin added, which will be their seventh personal meeting. While the Ukrainian delegation held consultations over the weekend in the US and on Wednesday in Davos, on the Russian side, only the Kremlin's economic emissary, Kirill Dmitriev, briefly met with Witkoff and Kushner on Tuesday.
