The Russian Federal Security Service said on Friday that it had foiled a Ukrainian plot to assassinate an unnamed high-ranking government official, accusing Kyiv of planning similar operations in other parts of the country. The agency added in a statement that the Ukrainian plot planned to kill the official during a visit to a family cemetery in Moscow. Reuters was unable to independently verify those reports, but Ukraine has been targeting military and other officials inside Russia since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022.
