International Forum on Arabic Teaching Held in Moscow

The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language participated in the second International Scientific and Practical Forum, recently held in the Russian capital, Moscow. Organized by the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Educational Center and the Primakov School, the forum was titled 'Teaching Arabic in the Modern World: Traditions and Innovations' and was attended by about 50 Russian-speaking experts and 15 Arabic-speaking speakers. Relying on both Arabic and Russian, the forum aimed to update the experience of teaching Arabic by combining traditions with the latest educational technologies. It targeted specialists in the field of Arabic language, teachers whose professional activities are related to the study and teaching of Arabic, and students learning it, focusing on issues such as artificial intelligence and language models in Arabic teaching, Arabic dialects in Russian education, familiarization with modern tools and techniques for teaching, regulating, and evaluating the quality of Modern Standard Arabic instruction, and modern methods for teaching it in higher education. It also explored ways to develop reading experience in the Arabic learning process and the practice of translation in its teaching. Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Director of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, said: 'The importance of the forum stems from consolidating cultural cooperation between the UAE and Russia, and enhancing the exchange between Arabic and Russian cultures, especially with the existence of the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Educational Center, which was established as a unique scientific edifice in Russia a year ago.' He added: 'The Primakov International School has, since its early years, bet on building the creative mind and developing imagination, enabling its students with tools of modern knowledge and providing scholarships for talented students from about 50 Russian regions, which intersects with the goals of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language and its efforts to promote the Arabic language, spread its cultural and intellectual heritage, support creative talents, and polish their skills.' Ali bin Tamim was a guest of honor at the forum's main session, which was titled 'Centers and Trends of Russian Arabistics: A Balance Between Tradition and Innovation,' alongside a select group of specialists and experts.
