Modi emphasized the importance of mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity as the foundation of relations between India and China. The agreement reached will allow Indian soldiers to return to pre-incident border patrols in Ladakh, in the Himalayas.
The historical dispute between India and China over certain regions of the Himalayas, such as Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, remains a contentious issue.
