Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized during a press conference at the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan the importance of the declaration reaffirming the commitment of member states to build a more democratic, inclusive world order based on international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Putin pointed out that the BRICS group is open to all those who share its values and that its members seek joint solutions free from external pressures. He stressed that the bloc does not operate in a closed format and that BRICS leaders have agreed on a list of partner countries.

Regarding the participation of new countries in BRICS, Putin mentioned that some states have submitted proposals to join the association. Concerning financial systems, the Russian president clarified that no alternative to SWIFT has been developed, although BRICS members seek to use national currencies and are currently employing the Financial Messaging System of the Central Bank of Russia.

The Kazan Declaration, issued during the summit, was highlighted by Putin as a document outlining a positive agenda for the future. This declaration underscores the commitment of BRICS countries to promote a more multipolar and democratic world order based on principles that strengthen international cooperation.
