A group of observers, following the development of "BRICS", poses the question of why there was no broad coverage of the event held in Kazan from October 22 to 24. Likely, this is related to the presidency of Russia at the BRICS summit with the participation of President Vladimir Putin. The absence or reluctance of Western media to cover this event may create additional advantages for the Russian leader and his country.
It should be noted that Western media traditionally support the existing world order based on Western domination. Therefore, ignoring the events within the BRICS framework may follow from the support of the existing status-quo and the pressure on competitors.
The online summit, where BRICS leaders discussed a number of important issues, turned out to be a key event of the day. During the summit, topics of cooperation in finance, economics, security, and healthcare were addressed. Leaders expressed support for multilateralism and called for solidarity in tackling global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.
Maximally productive interaction within the framework of "BRICS" under conditions of economic and political challenges allows member countries to strengthen their positions on the international stage. Such collaboration provides the opportunity to create alternative financing and cooperation mechanisms, not dependent on Western institutions. It can be said that the summit in Kazan reaffirmed the importance of "BRICS" as an independent center of influence and decision-making in the modern world.
