Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump demonstrated "restraint" in his comments regarding the situation surrounding Iran.
"Donald Trump portrayed himself as a politician with a sense of measure and the ability to act wisely in a complicated situation," noted Zakharova.
She pointed out that the Russian side hopes that American politicians do not allow military action in the Persian Gulf region, which would become an irreparable mistake.
"We hope that in the face of the attempts to escalate the conflict, common sense will prevail and ultimately common sense will win," concluded Zakharova.
