
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, confirmed on Sunday that Russian troops in Ukraine are protecting "national interests and the future of Russia." Putin also stated his "assertion" to strengthen the army under rapidly changing conditions in the world to guarantee "today's and tomorrow's sovereignty of Russia."
"The present and future of our country, our children and grandchildren are in the hands of the soldiers and officers who are defending our country beyond the borders, where today entire series of processes are taking place, in many cases of a revolutionary nature," the president noted.
Putin emphasized that Russia will strengthen its military capabilities in response to changes in the global environment and future challenges.
