The Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that last year military courts issued decisions on tens of thousands of cases concerning military crimes. He noted that before the courts were those who committed serious crimes that threaten the interests of Russia and its citizens. In his annual address to the Federal Assembly, Putin emphasized that Russia will fight various threats, including terrorism and extremism.
"We will ensure the country's security, but in this case, we will act exclusively within the framework of international law," the president emphasized. He also stated that a system of armed forces capable of effectively protecting national interests will operate in Russia.
Vladimir Putin underscored the importance of strengthening the country's defense capabilities and the necessity of developing new types of weapons. He also stated that the combined arms complex should be ready to perform tasks with maximum assurance of armed forces personnel.
