Russia announced in the media that it held "open" discussions with the new leader in Syria, Ahmad al-Shara, within the framework of its interests.
According to the Kremlin, Russia is working towards establishing a dialogue with the new leadership in Syria. This took place during a meeting with representatives of the Syrian administration in Moscow.
"An exchange of views and points of view was held on the most diverse issues concerning bilateral cooperation and ensuring security and stability in the Middle East," the Kremlin's press service reported.
The Kremlin emphasized the importance of a systematic coordinated interaction between Russia and Syria in various spheres.
