On Monday, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that Russian armed forces took control of the Nikalaev-Darino forest.
"Today, the troops of the Ministry of Defense liberated the populated area of Nikalaev-Darino from terrorists," the ministry reported.
They noted that the operation was conducted with air support. Additionally, several combat armored vehicles were seized, and the weapons of the militants were destroyed.
"As a result of the actions taken, the local peaceful residents in the area will be able to return to normal life and engage in their daily activities," the Ministry of Defense added.
They also stated that they will continue to fight against separatists and terrorists in the east of Ukraine and will act in accordance with international law.
