Many nutrition specialists recommend including nuts in the diet as one of the healthiest and lightest snacks. They serve as an excellent source of cells, healthy fats, plant proteins, antioxidants, and many other important nutrients.
Doctors and dietitians emphasize the benefits of nuts for health, noting that they help reduce the risk of dementia, contain vitamins, minerals, and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Dr. Lyudmila Sukhorukova, a gastroenterologist, pointed out that nuts are truly beneficial, however, people with allergies and problems with the gastrointestinal tract should consume them with caution.
In this context, she noted that it is particularly important for people with various gastrointestinal disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, gastritis, and pancreatitis. Soaking nuts can activate the enzyme phytase, which helps reduce the content of phytic acid, hindering the absorption of nutrients.
To minimize the risks of nut consumption, it is recommended to soak them in warm water overnight.
