The New Year’s party hosted by a Russian company for its employees in Moscow turned into a tragedy. A cocktail at the event contained liquid nitrogen to create visual effects, yet guests were not warned of the danger. As a result, one attendee, Sergey, collapsed immediately and was taken to the hospital with a severe abdominal tear.
Medical experts explained that rapid evaporation of nitrogen generates a large volume of gas that can rupture internal organs. Sergey was transferred to the intensive‑care unit and underwent emergency surgery. His condition is now stable, but he is still recovering. The cause of the incident is under investigation, and the use of liquid nitrogen at public venues has been tightened.
