North Korean Troops Deployed to Russia Amid Conflict

Last week, a BRICS summit took place in Russia, attended by the leaders of China and India, with the aim of forming a counterweight to Western influence.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced the possible arrival of North Korean soldiers on the battlefield in a matter of days, based on intelligence reports. According to information from South Korean and American authorities, approximately 3,000 North Korean troops were deployed in Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine.

NATO confirmed the presence of North Korean troops in Russia to support the ongoing conflict, with some deployed in the Russian border region of Kursk. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte mentioned that this situation represents a dangerous escalation in North Korean involvement in the war, which could provoke an expansion of the conflict.

Western officials expressed concern over the incorporation of thousands of North Korean soldiers into the conflict in Ukraine, considered the largest in Europe since World War II. This situation would increase pressure on the Ukrainian army and escalate geopolitical tensions in the Korean peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific region in general.

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, has shown great interest in reconfiguring global power dynamics, which adds complexity to the current situation.
