Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin received Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro during his first foreign trip since the political crisis in July in Venezuela. The meeting took place in the Russian city of Kazan and was broadcast live on Russian public television. During the meeting, Putin emphasized the importance of Venezuela as a reliable partner of Russia in Latin America and globally.
Putin stressed that the strategic partnership relations between both countries continue to strengthen, with an increase in bilateral trade volumes and the implementation of various projects in sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, transportation, space exploration, and new technologies.
For his part, Maduro expressed that Venezuela has managed to recover its economy through its own efforts, with positive indicators of economic growth, the defeat of inflation, and investment. He insisted on his country's willingness to receive more Russian investment and strengthen the alliance between business sectors in various fields.
The Venezuelan leader mentioned the challenges Venezuela has overcome in recent decades and affirmed that the country is on the path to global balance and the construction of a multipolar world. He highlighted the importance of practicing principles such as respect and cooperation among emerging new superpowers and the peoples of the Global South and East.
Maduro described the BRICS summit as "historic" and stated that it sends a message of hope to the people of the world. The Venezuelan president, who had not traveled abroad since July, also met in Kazan with leaders from other countries such as Belarus, Turkey, Palestine, and Ethiopia.
