BRICS Summit Begins in Kazan Amid Global Tensions

In the early 21st century, a peaceful and progressive outlook was expected after a tumultuous 20th century marked by world wars and the creation of the UN to maintain peace. However, today, the major leaders of this organization, such as China, Russia, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, are in constant dispute, making it difficult to make decisions that promote peace instead of confrontation.

In this context, the BRICS hold their sixteenth annual meeting in Kazan, Russia, where they address issues of politics, security, economy, finance, and humanitarian affairs. This group, composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, meets at a crucial moment, as armed conflicts in the Middle East and Europe threaten international stability.

In the Middle East, the conflict between Israel and Iran involves the United States and Russia, while in Europe, Russia is directly involved and threatens nuclear escalation if NATO crosses certain lines. These complex geopolitical situations generate tensions and jeopardize world peace.

The BRICS aim to strengthen their position on the international stage, especially in light of the upcoming presidential election in the United States. Their goal is to reduce dependence on the dollar and create a counterbalance to the West, demonstrating their global influence and their role in shaping international relations.

Additionally, with the inclusion of new member countries under the category of 'friendly nations', such as the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Iran, the influence of the BRICS in the international scene expands. This union seeks to promote economic development and strengthen relations among member countries.

However, despite the BRICS' efforts to promote peaceful solutions, the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine remains delicate, and the threat of a new cold war looms over international relations. Meanwhile, the current BRICS summit marks a turning point in the relationship between East and West, amid a reconfiguration of power and influence poles globally.
