The Kremlin on Monday rejected the findings of an investigation conducted by five European countries that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent. The Kremlin statement said the investigation's conclusions are unfounded and politically motivated. The European countries, in turn, stated that the investigation was conducted with a high degree of certainty and that the responsibility for the poisoning lies with the Russian authorities. Navalny was transferred to Germany for treatment after he fell into a coma in August of last year. Doctors in Germany confirmed that he was poisoned with a substance from the 'Novichok' group.
