Russia rejected on Thursday a European plan to deploy peacekeepers in Ukraine, calling it 'dangerous'. Russian authorities stated that such an initiative could only exacerbate the conflict and would not lead to stabilization. Moscow emphasized that any peacekeeping operations must be conducted with the consent of all conflict parties. According to Russian leadership, the Europe-proposed plan does not take into account the on-the-ground realities and ignores Russia's key interests. European countries, however, believe that the presence of neutral peacekeepers could help cease fire and start negotiations.
