Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today that the Russian army will militarily seize what he called 'historical Russian territories' in Ukraine if diplomacy fails. This refers to the four Ukrainian regions annexed by Moscow. Putin, as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also emphasized that Russia will continue to expand the security zone in the Ukrainian regions of Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy. The statement was made in an address to the senior leadership of the Russian Army and the Ministry of Defense.
