Russia supports the leadership of Venezuela and calls on the United States government to refrain from "sliding" towards a large-scale conflict with Caracas, warned Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), Moscow is observing the recent events in Venezuela with great concern, and tensions remain high and continue to grow. "This is mainly linked to Washington's desire to ensure unrivaled dominance in the region, a hallmark of the Trump administration," stated Ryabkov, as quoted by the TASS news agency.
Ryabkov emphasized that Russia maintains strong solidarity with Venezuela, referring to the recently concluded agreement on strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries. "We support Venezuela, just as it supports us... In this difficult moment, we are shoulder to shoulder with Caracas and its leadership," noted Ryabkov.
In recent months, the United States has increased its military presence in the Caribbean Sea. The Pentagon has carried out at least 22 known attacks on suspected drug vessels in the Caribbean and the Eastern Pacific since September 2, which resulted in the deaths of more than 87 people on board.
