Moscow (Reuters) — Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened on Tuesday to prevent Ukraine from accessing the sea, in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russia's 'shadow fleet' in the Black Sea. Putin said in a televised statement: 'The most radical solution would be to prevent Ukraine from accessing the sea, then this piracy will be impossible in principle.' On Saturday, a Ukrainian security official said that Ukrainian naval drones hit two sanctioned tankers in the Black Sea during an attack as they were heading to a Russian port for loading. He added that Russia would intensify strikes on Ukrainian facilities and ships and take action against tankers of countries assisting Ukraine.
