Russian General Colonel Valery Gerasimov stated on Saturday that his forces have regained control of a large part of the territory previously held by Syrian rebels in Idlib. The general reported that they conducted a successful operation to attack the positions of militants and liberated several strategically important areas. Gerasimov also emphasized that Russian troops continue to fight against terrorists to ensure security in the region.
"We assess the current situation as stable and controllable," said Gerasimov.
The general noted that the liberation of the Idlib territory from extremists has allowed Syrian citizens to return to their homes and begin the restoration of damaged infrastructure. He underscored that the military continues to strengthen positions and work on stabilizing the situation in the region.
