The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the statements of the administration of the President of the USA Donald Trump about the establishment of a "Jewish state" in Crimea do not correspond to reality. According to Lavrov, these statements have no legal force and cannot affect the legal status of the peninsula.

During a speech at a press conference after a meeting with the US Vice President Mike Pence, Lavrov noted that Russia's position on Crimea remains unchanged. The minister emphasized that Crimea became part of Russia after the referendum, in which the majority of residents expressed support for joining the country.

"We did not discuss the topic of Crimea. But I, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, am obliged to note public statements. I have heard about the creation of open Jewish areas in Crimea. But this is just statements. They have no legal force and cannot affect the legal status of Crimea," noted Lavrov.

In turn, the administration of Donald Trump did not comment on Sergey Lavrov's statements.
