Russia Rejects European Troop Deployment in Ukraine

Russia has firmly rejected the possibility of deploying European forces in Ukraine, ensuring that it will not allow any NATO interference in the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that, regardless of the flag carried by the deployed forces, they will remain NATO troops, warning that Russia will not stand idly by in such a scenario.

At a joint press conference with his Zimbabwean counterpart, Lavrov highlighted that there will be no room for compromises on this matter, describing discussions about the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine as hostile. French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for Europe to rearm in the face of the 'Russian threat' and expressed doubts about the United States' commitment to the continent's security.

On the other hand, Russia rejected a proposal for a one-month ceasefire in Ukraine put forward by France and the United Kingdom. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called the idea unacceptable, arguing that what is being proposed is only a respite for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and could lead to a new escalation of the conflict.

Zakharova emphasized that, from her perspective, Kiev is seeking to strengthen its military potential and prepare for future retaliatory actions, which would only lead to a resumption of the conflict with renewed vigor. In this context, Lavrov also reiterated Russia's stance of not allowing a European deployment in Ukraine during peace negotiations, noting that this would imply open NATO participation in the confrontation with Russia.
