President of Russia Vladimir Putin stated in an interview that Russia has "almost completed" the process of issuing passports for citizens. The head of state added that the mass production of new documents should "start very soon."
"I am glad to announce that we have almost completed the work on the transition to new passports. I want to draw your attention to the fact that the introduction of these new passports will significantly increase the level of security measures," Putin emphasized.
He noted that at the beginning of last year, the country's leader announced plans to replace the ordinary passports with more reliable and convenient ones for use. The new documents will have improved security features and biometric data.
