Three homemade explosive devices were thrown at the facade of the Consulate of Russia on Monday morning.
A consulate employee in Khamenei reported that one of the attackers contacted a rented apartment, from which they managed to escape from the scene. He added that none of the consulate employees was harmed.
"We are aware of the incident that occurred at our consulate. We are working with local authorities to investigate this and prevent similar measures," said the consulate representative.
Abu Bakr al-Amani, a journalist from Syria, reported that a group calling itself "The Army of the Storks" claimed responsibility for the attack on the Russian consulate.
