Moscow rejected on Thursday the idea of sending NATO military ships to the Black Sea, where Russia operates. The proposal was made after the deterioration of relations between Russia and Ukraine, since Kyiv is not a member of NATO, and NATO ships require the consent of the host country to enter.
Commenting on this idea, Russia considers that additional NATO military forces in the region could become "an exceptionally provocative step," which does not lead to strengthening stability and security in the Black Sea region.
"Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, emphasized that no NATO ship enters the Black Sea without the consent of Russia. He also added that he is ready to consider the issue of introducing corresponding amendments into Russian legislation to close the related loopholes concerning the Black Sea.
Volodin also stated that Russia will continue to protect its interests in the Black Sea, as well as in any other part of the world, and will not allow anyone to threaten its security.
