Man in Russia Tried to Avoid Child Support by Changing Name

In Russia, a man attempted to evade tax collectors by claiming to suffer from toilet phobia. Russian authorities stated that a man's attempt to avoid paying child support by periodically changing his name failed, and he must now pay the resulting arrears. Roman Kornev, head of the child support department in Tyumen, Russia, recently revealed one of the most shocking cases of his career, as he described it in an interview with the Russian media outlet 72.RU. He pointed out that a man changes his first and last name once a year, hoping to evade child support. After a year, the man, whose name was not disclosed, returned to his old name and repeated the process. The publication reported that it is unclear how long he managed to hide from officials, but his efforts were in vain. Kornev revealed to the publication: "When a person's name changes, this information is reported to the bailiffs so that the debtor cannot evade child support in this way." There are other similar incidents, including a man faking his own death to evade child support, or even faking a DNA test for the same purpose. According to the same publication, local residents routinely resort to ridiculous tricks to avoid paying their debts. It turns out that the debtor owns two apartments, one of which is subject to seizure. This was his attempt to escape the cost of supporting his child and "cancel" the debt.
